Dr Mandy Banton
D. Prof (Ost), BA (Hons), BSc (Hons), PGCACE
Mandy Banton is an osteopath with a clinic in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. She has lectured on osteopathy Masters’ programmes and is a Fellow of the Sutherland Cranial College of Osteopathy.
For her professional doctorate in osteopathy, she investigated the intersubjective aesthetic experience shared by cranial osteopaths and their patients.
Her philosophical interests are in hermeneutic realism and phenomenology. She aims to promote an exploration of the ontology of practice within osteopathic education and research.
"I’d like to share some of what I have learned whilst researching the phenomenon of cranial osteopathy, and through developing problem-based learning modules on evidence-based practice and osteopathic enquiry.
My wish is to get into conversations with colleagues, scholars, philosophers and anyone with an interest in researching and teaching the lived experience of embodied practice."
PhOst's longer-term aim is to build a credible and accessible resource for a transdisciplinary community who share an interest in the philosophy of health and healthcare practice.
